What a better way to learn than to disguise it as having fun! In this challenge, students work with a team to design and build a container that will best preserve an ice cube.
I usually have students complete this challenge in pairs because the project is seems straight-forward to build, but becomes complex as students begin to think of materials choices and how to best “protect” the ice cube.
The Brown Bag STEM Challenge design challenges focus on some key STEM concepts like critical thinking and problem solving, all while being low-cost to implement. This sequel series contains all of the same elements (design briefs, NGSS alignment, Interactive STEM Notebook pages, etc.) as the original, but with new challenges!
