Engaging Students in STEM: SCAMPER

By December 11th, 2023No Comments

When students are engaging in STEM and the Engineering Design performance indicators, they are essentially working through parts of the Engineering Design Process.  Most of the time, students can progress through the steps to redesign or improve their project.  But, sometimes, students have trouble knowing how to redesign and where to start.

The SCAMPER acronym can help these students as it gives them a toolbox of ideas to draw from. Students can use this list, think of each modification and determine whether it will improve their design or not.  Then, students can select the most likely modification that will increase the performance of their design.
