Agree/Disagree formative assessment is a strategy that encourages students to evaluate a statement provided by the teacher.
With this formative assessment, students can agree, disagree, mark that they are not sure or indicate that it depends. Students are also given an opportunity to share how they would be able to prove that their answer is correct by providing ways that they could find out the validity of the statement.
As with any strategy or tool, we need to think carefully about the most appropriate one to use with our students that will help us to best reach our performance expectation. Through thoughtful selection, we can effectively promote student learning.
