Best Free AI Tools for Teachers

By December 11th, 2023No Comments

Are you like me and you love a good experiment?  Sometimes, I just can’t resist… and this is one of these times.  I started out researching different free AI tools that would be best for teachers and then I thought- What if I have an AI write this post instead?  Everyone knows about ChatGPT, but what about the sea of others? And which ones would be best suited for teachers?

So, I jumped over to Perplexity and asked it to write me a blog post on the AI tools that I researched (because you can’t trust an AI with everything).  Here’s what it had to say based on the AI tools that I told it to write about:

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is transforming the way we live and work, and education is no exception. AI tools can help teachers save time, personalize learning, and improve student outcomes. In this blog post, we will explore some of the free AI tools that teachers can use to enhance their teaching and engage their students.

MagicSchool.ai

MagicSchool.ai is a suite of over 40 AI tools designed to help teachers save time and improve student outcomes. It can analyze the complexity of a text and provide suggestions for simplifying it, generate questions based on a data table to help students practice data analysis skills and even generate a quiz base on a text to assess student understanding.

Bard

Bard is an AI-powered writing assistant that helps teachers and students write better and avoid plagiarism. It uses OpenAI’s GPT-3 language model to generate high-quality content and provide suggestions for improving writing. Bard can be used to write essays, research papers, blog posts, and more.

Perplexity

Perplexity is an AI-powered tool that helps teachers create engaging and interactive learning experiences. It uses natural language processing (NLP) to understand students’ questions and provide personalized responses. Perplexity can be used to create chatbots, quizzes, and interactive lessons.

Quizalize

Quizalize is an AI-powered quiz maker that helps teachers create engaging quizzes for their students. It uses machine learning to adapt to students’ learning styles and provide personalized feedback. Quizalize can be used to create formative assessments, exit tickets, and more.

Character.ai

Character.ai is an AI-powered tool that helps teachers create animated characters for their lessons. It uses machine learning to generate realistic facial expressions and body movements. Character.ai can be used to create animated videos, presentations, and more.

Craiyon

Craiyon is an AI-powered tool that helps teachers create visual content for their lessons. It uses machine learning to generate high-quality images and videos based on a text description. Craiyon can be used to create infographics, posters, and more. (An editorial note from the human- I used Craiyon to generate the image for this post too.  It created the image and I touched it up a little and overlayed the title.)

Stable  Diffusion

Stable Diffusion AI is a text-to-image model that generates images based on a text prompt. It can be used by teachers to provide learners a tool for generating rough drafts, outlines, and brainstorming notes, offer new possibilities for visual arts education, and create art and images. Overall, Stable Diffusion AI can be a valuable tool for teachers to enhance their teaching and offer new possibilities for their students.

Parlay Genie

Parlay Genie is an AI-powered tool that helps teachers facilitate classroom discussions. It uses machine learning to analyze students’ responses and provide personalized feedback. Parlay Genie can be used to create discussion prompts, track student participation, and more.

In conclusion, AI tools can help teachers save time, personalize learning, and improve student outcomes. The above-mentioned AI tools are free and can be used by teachers to enhance their teaching and engage their students.

It’s incredible having these resources at your fingertips!  Do be aware though that using an AI is like teaching kindergarten.  They need lots of supervision and specific instructions.  And even then, they don’t always give appropriate or correct responses.  Hopefully these AI tools (researched by a human and written by an AI) will help you in your classroom to save time, be more efficient and generate new ideas!
