Mental Math STEM Games for Struggling Students

STEM education is important for all students, but it can be especially beneficial for struggling learners. STEM games can help students develop their math, science, and engineering skills in a fun and engaging way. They can also help students build confidence and motivation, and they can create a positive learning environment.

I designed the Mental Math STEM Games for Struggling Students because some students wanting to pursue STEM careers don’t have the math skills they need to be successful. We can’t make the math easier, but we can make practicing it more fun!

So, I set to work designing a series of games that:

Aligned to standards
Are low-cost, easy to prep and only used a few common materials
Added a sense of fun to learning and/ore reviewing a specific math concept
Created both a competitive but also cooperative environment for success
Can be adapted for different skill levels

Each bundle pack contains five different games that are applicable to a specific skill. Each game also corresponds to a particular grade level because of the standards it aligns to, but this may not apply to you based on the skill level of your students.

They also each contain Procedure/Set-Up Tips, gameplay instructions (with examples) and Score Cards/ Game Boards (half-page for STEM Notebooks and less paper) so that you can just run copies and go! They are a great for Sub plans too as they are easy to follow and require minimal set-up.

The Spinner Bundle Pack requires a few paperclips for each team to use on the spinner boards (provided). It contains games that help students strengthen skills in multiples, number sense, fractions, decimals, probability, fractions and percentages.
